I am Amber Hutchinson and I am the founder of the Toronto Purple Fins Gender Free Swim Club - the first club of this kind.
Swimming, like many sports, is rooted in the gender binary. This often excludes or creates challenges for trans and non-binary folks due to technical limitations or lack of truly inclusive and safe sport spaces. Toronto Purple Fins was created to remove these barriers. We strive to create a judgment-free swimming space where all folks can swim together and be part of a team.
We currently have swimmers in the water and we’re growing members every week. Despite this, significant financial barriers remain, and we need your support to continue offering quality service to this community.
